Eerste ChipSoft-ziekenhuis gaat live met de Founda Mitz Connector ter ondersteuning van nationale patiëntentoestemming

Amsterdam, 4 maart 2026 - Een toonaangevend ziekenhuis in de regio Rijnmond is live gegaan met de Founda Mitz Connector, waarmee patiënten toestemming kunnen geven voor het delen van hun medische gegevens via XDS in Nederland. Dit is het eerste ChipSoft-ziekenhuis dat de connector in productie heeft genomen.

Dit ondersteunt de naleving van nationale vereisten voor toestemming van patiënten, terwijl de bestaande Founda-infrastructuur voor de beschikbaarheid van gegevens en beelden wordt hergebruikt.

Mitz is het nationale register voor toestemming van patiënten in Nederland, waarmee patiënten en zorgverleners op een gestandaardiseerde manier toestemming van patiënten kunnen registreren en beheren, en kunnen controleren wanneer medische gegevens tussen organisaties worden gedeeld. Naarmate de uitwisseling van gegevens tussen organisaties blijft groeien, wordt het gebruik van Mitz een essentieel onderdeel van veilige en conforme uitwisseling van zorggegevens.

Door Mitz rechtstreeks in de (XDS) uitwisselingslaag te integreren, in plaats van in afzonderlijke systemen, toont deze implementatie een schaalbare aanpak voor de Nederlandse gezondheidszorgmarkt. Het laat zien hoe ziekenhuizen nationale toestemmingsvereisten kunnen toepassen zonder bestaande infrastructuren te herontwerpen of zorgworkflows te verstoren, een belangrijke stap nu gegevensuitwisseling steeds meer organisaties, regio's en netwerken omvat.

Met de Founda Mitz Connector kunnen zorgorganisaties Mitz naadloos integreren in bestaande XDS-gebaseerde uitwisselingsworkflows. Het voert realtime toestemmingscontroles uit op de uitwisselingslaag, ondersteunt ingebouwde lokale toestemmingsfallback om de continuïteit van de zorg te waarborgen en voorkomt de noodzaak van aanvullende systemen, leveranciers of parallelle toestemmingsoplossingen.

“Deze livegang laat zien dat de invoering van Mitz niet hoeft te betekenen dat de IT-landschappen in de gezondheidszorg opnieuw moeten worden ontworpen”, aldus Andries Hamster van Founda Health. “De verbinding tussen de XDSCloud-omgeving en Mitz werd binnen enkele dagen geïmplementeerd. Dit project toont aan dat we in staat zijn om ziekenhuizen die zowel HIX als XDS gebruiken, te verbinden met Mitz. Dit verlaagt niet alleen de administratieve lasten voor ziekenhuizen in verband met het beheer van patiëntentoestemming, maar verlaagt ook de drempels voor dergelijke ziekenhuizen om deel te nemen aan het nationale netwerk voor beelduitwisseling.”

De Founda Mitz Connector is leveranciersonafhankelijk ontworpen en past consistente toestemmingshandhaving toe in XDS-omgevingen met meerdere leveranciers, inclusief document- en beelduitwisseling. Het maakt deel uit van het Founda Platform, dat op standaarden gebaseerde, toekomstbestendige uitwisseling van zorggegevens tussen regionale en nationale netwerken ondersteunt.

First ChipSoft hospital goes live with the Founda Mitz Connector to support national patient consent

Amsterdam, 4 March 2026 - A leading hospital in the Rijnmond region has gone live with the Founda Mitz Connector, enabling patient consent checks as part of XDS-based healthcare data availability in the Netherlands. This marks the first ChipSoft hospital to implement the connector in production.

This supports compliance with national patient consent requirements while reusing existing Founda infrastructure for data and image availability.

Mitz is the national patient consent registry in the Netherlands, enabling patients and healthcare providers to register, manage, and check patient consent in a standardized way when medical data is shared across organisations. As inter-organisational data exchange continues to grow, using Mitz is becoming an essential part of secure and compliant healthcare data exchange.

By integrating Mitz directly into the (XDS) exchange layer, rather than individual systems, this implementation demonstrates a scalable approach for the Dutch healthcare market. It shows how hospitals can adopt national consent requirements without redesigning existing infrastructures or disrupting care workflows, an important step as data exchange increasingly spans organisations, regions, and networks.

The Founda Mitz Connector enables healthcare organisations to integrate Mitz seamlessly into existing XDS-based exchange workflows. It performs real-time consent checks at the exchange layer, supports built-in local consent fallback to ensure continuity of care, and avoids the need for additional systems, vendors, or parallel consent solutions.
